1˙重点照明（accent lighting）指用以强调某一特别目标物，或是引人注意视野中某一部分之一种方向性照明
2˙调适（accommodation）
指人的眼睛焦点自某一点移动至另一点之改变过程
3˙顺应（adaptation）
指人眼视觉系统调适较多或较少、或不同色光之过程，其会影响视觉灵敏度
4˙周围照明（ambient lighting）
指可以产生全般照明之全地区性照明
5˙表面平均亮度（average luminance, of a surface）
指实际离开光照面上单位面积之总流明光通量
6˙灯具平均亮度（average luminance, of a luminaire ）
指于某一已知角度之光度除以灯具在该方向之投影面积
7˙遮蔽体（baffle）
指于某一特定角度遮蔽光线直接照射、或吸收不需要光线之不透明或半透明对象
8˙安定器（ballast）
指与放电灯一起使用之一种装置藉以获得起动及运转时所需电路之电流、电压及波形等条件
9˙光束角（beam angle）
指于垂直光束中心线之一平面上，光度等于50%最大光度之二方向的夹角
10˙亮度（brightness）
参照subjective brightness, luminance, veiling luminance
11˙新烛光（candela, cd）
光度单位，参考图f1；以点光源为中心，半径为一公尺作球，如贯通此球面一平方公尺面积上的光束为一流明时，则此方向之光度称为一新烛光
12˙烛光功率（candle power）
i=dx/ds，以新烛光表示
13˙光度配光曲线（candle power distribution curve）
指在一平面上以一电灯或灯具之光源中心利用极坐标方式绘出光度变化情形之曲线
14˙屋顶高窗采光（clere story）
指建筑物具有透明屋顶、或是墙壁具有采光玻璃窗之照明设计
15˙照明率（coefficient of utilization）
指于工作面上接收算得之流明光通量对于估计的电灯放射光通量之比值(等于室利用率×灯具效率)
16˙演色性（color rendering）
指于一光源下某目标物外观呈现之色彩与其在参考光源(如日光)下原有色彩相比其演出之真实感如何是否与原有色彩一样
17˙对比（contrast）
参照luminance
18˙对比灵敏度（contrast sensitivity）
检测出辉度差异之能力，如以定性方式说明则其等于对比定限之倒数
19˙灯具遮光角（cutoff angle of a luminaire）
自最低点量测，人眼所无法看见裸光之第一条光线与垂直线二者之间的夹角
20˙漫射反射（diffuse reflection）
指入射光束于某一角度范围内反射回去之过程
21˙漫射照明（diffused lighting）
指入射光线并非主要来自单一特别方向之照明方式
22˙漫射器（diffuser）
指某种装置可用以反射、或散射光源所发出之光线，通常主要可藉由漫射完成
