英文中有好几个词都表示“在下面”，区别并正确使用它们就是below的考点。
[考点] 辨析below, under和beneath
below所指的范围较宽，指处于比某物低的位置，不一定是正下方，且有一定距离，其反义词是above；under指在某物体的正下方，所指的范围较窄，其反义词是over；beneath相当于below和under，但它是较旧的用法，现在很少用。如：
- the plane is flying below the clouds.
飞机在云下飞行。

besides是个非常容易考得词，但只要熟练区别besides，except和except for，一切就变得容易了。
[考点] 辨析except，except for，besides和but
except作“除……外”讲时，表示不包括在内；besides作“除……以外”讲时，表示“除了……，还包括……”；except和besides连接的主体类型一致，但except for（除……以外）连接的是部分与整体的关系；but相当于except。
- we all went to see a film last night except/but tom.
昨天晚上除了汤姆外，我们都去看电影了。（汤姆没去看）
- we all went to see a film last night besides tom.
昨天晚上除了汤姆去看电影外，我们也都去了。（汤姆去看了）
