fear  n. & v. 害怕，畏惧；担心
[特征]

[考点]
①for fear + that从句，从句中必须有情态动词。
- she shut the window for fear that it might rain.
她把窗户关上，怕下雨。
②fear作名词时，表示“对……担心”，要用介词of。
- there is not much fear of that.
那件事不大可能发生。
③fear作动词，后面可接动名词或不定式，意义相同，fear doing sth. = fear to do sth. 害怕坐某事。
